Workplace-based assessments are a mandatory part of GP training, but their educational value goes beyond meeting minimum requirements.

These practical, one-page guides are designed for GP trainers, Educational Supervisors and Clinical Supervisors. They focus on choosing appropriate assessments, recognising meaningful evidence of capability and providing feedback that supports trainee development.

The guides complement, rather than replace, current RCGP assessment criteria and requirements.
